ALERT 100 ALARM MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
There are many industrial process where many different equipment
types must work together to produce a product (e.g. factory
automation) or deliver a service (e.g. power distribution).
If a single piece of equipment fails the result can often
mean loss of production with resulting fall in revenue. In
a complex process, trying to identify the source of a problem
can be a time-consuming, specialised job and service restoration
be be slow as a result.
DATAC's Alert 100 Alarm Managment System is designed for
this scenario. It offers a centralized location where alarms
from many diverse sources can be collected, annunciated and
displayed. This offers a single display point where a process
operator or restoration crew can go to achieve an instant
overview of the process and its associated alarms. It is no
longer necessary to investigate the status of individual subsystems.
One look at the Alert 100 operator screen will help to reveal
the source of the problem, leading to faster restoration times..
Based upon our successful 32-bit RTU technology, the Alert
100 is a low cost data acquisition and display device. Equipment
alarms are displayed in list form with the most recent (or
most urgent) on top. Basic features available are:
Standalone or Integrated?
The Alert 100 is a cost effective way to monitor a process,
since a single standalone unit is all that is required. A
hard copy of the alarms is easily available by connection
of a printer. However the unit can also be the first step
in a simple telemetry system or SCADA system, since it can
be interrogated using industry standard protocols like Modbus.
Power Application
The Alert 100 was originally developed for use in medium voltage
substations. Optional features which are especially relevent
to this sector are:
- high voltage withstand rating (IEC 255-5)
- sequence of events recording (SOE)
- millisecond time stamping (with synchronisation from a
GPS module if required).
